Okay, so I’ve noticed that it’s getting warmer. That summer is around the corner. That I can’t wear these sweatpants and long-sleeve T-shirts anymore.
*sigh*
I don’t know about you, but I usually give myself a goal each time I have a kid. They usually say it takes 9 months to put the baby weight on, so it should take at least 9 months to take it off. I subscribe to the “Maternity leave doesn’t count” theory (because honestly, aren’t you just trying to make it from one day to the next on zero amounts of sleep?).
So with my three-month maternity leave factored in, I have until my son’s birthday (August 4) to lose these last 10 pounds. All of which seem to congregate in my middle.
I’ve already been trying to eat right (exercise? um…no) over the past week or two. I quit eating my world-famous Oreo sundae at night and instead have been snacking on the apples and oranges and grapes that I always buy and I usually have to throw out because I’ve ignored them so I could eat the afore-mentioned Oreo sundae.
I ate a salad almost every day this week and surprisingly, I felt really full after eating them. Considering a whole bag of the romaine lettuce I bought is only about 100 calories, I’m on a roll.
I’ve decided to join in the “Body After Baby” challenge, started over at Mama Notes by the lovely Samantha (she’s cool peeps).
Here are the rules:
- Post on your blog your long term goals. Generally a goal that you want to have accomplished in 4- 6 months. Be specific.
- List your short term goals for the week. For example, lose one pound this week or exercise four days a week.
- List your plan of action. How you’re going to reach your goals.
- Re-cap every Monday. On Monday’s we will review our goals and our progress. We will post our success’s and failures and share them with other’s! Be honest.
- Leave a link to the post in your blog so that we can all motivate and support each other. Judgement is not allowed, only support and encouragement.
Here’s my first attempt at setting some goals:
1. Long term goals: Hmmm. I would like to walk around without having to suck in my gut. Meaning, lose about 5 inches off my midsection.
2. Short term for this week: Eat healthy meals, at least two salads. Sneak in a walk around the block with my kids at least three times this week. Should be doable.
3. Plan of action: I’m going to have to scour the kitchen to make sure there isn’t any junk to throw me off. Bye-bye, Oreos!
I will recap my journey right here, every Monday so you can see how I’m doing. Just to give you an idea of where I’m starting from:
This was when I had two months to go in my pregnancy. I quit taking pictures after this because I was just done.
So what say you? Will you join me? Please say you will!
You better work! Go ‘head, get busy! Good luck, love. I plan to get it on and poppin’ right after I push out this last book… seriously. It’s about to be on.
@ Denene – Okay, serious question – how many books ARE you writing? Prolific is your middle name, huh?
Dang. Do you really know what you are asking me to do here? You are asking me to end my love affair with ice cream. Can I really do that? Just leave it all alone at the store?? My goodness, I am gonna have to really think hard and see if finally reaching my goal is worth it, lol.
10 more pounds to go huh? That’s nothing! I still have 30… you can do it… Go Tara Go!
@ Ms Bar B – I love Oreos too. But it’s easier to just not buy them, rather than buy it and fight your willpower. It’s going to be rough, but we can do it!
