So my husband has been on this quest to buy a pool table.
He’s got his man cave set up in the basement and the only thing he wants to make it complete is a pool table. You know, for when his friends come over. Never mind the fact that his friends never come over.
So I humored him. Took him to the store so we could scout pool tables and check out prices.
Now, maybe we went to the wrong store, but as we came upon the display area for pool tables, I started flipping price tags hanging from the corner pockets.
$8,700. $7,900. $6,500.
I raise an eyebrow and turn to my husband, who is obviously getting high off the smell of expensive-as-hell tables in the air.
“Look at all these tables!” he exclaims, getting giddy. I haven’t seen him this excited ever.
“Honey, a pool table is so far down on the list that it’s laughable.”
You know what “the list” is, don’t you? It’s that running tally you keep in your head of things you’ll need soon and how much they cost and which paycheck you might be able to use to pay for it.
You know what’s on the list right now? Getting our furnance/air conditioning unit serviced, new glasses for me, a new camera, two new CARS, new cell phones, a new laptop.
But a pool table? Please. Guess that man cave will be minus one pool table until at least 2011.
Ladies, what’s on your “list,” the things you really WANT to buy but bills and regular life keeps getting in the way?
I’ll come back and answer when I’m really awake but how come you guys didn’t mention this before?! My dad had about a $6,000 pool table and I ended up selling that thing the day before we moved down here for $300 bucks. It was a couple years old, but still in great condition, grrrrrr!
@Courtney – We didn’t think a pool table would fit. But now he thinks it can, which is why he’s obsessed with it now. Ugh…whatever. LOL.
My dining room set. It’s the first room you see when you walk in my house and it’s EMMMMP-TY! Echo, echo. So tired of having dinner parties at our kitchen table that seats 6 along with a card table that seats 4, squished.
Actually now that I think about it, where would it fit? In the area where your ellipitical is? I definitely know the one we had, which is most popular wouldn’t fit, or maybe it would but no one would be able to walk around it and aim properly, lol
I agree with Debbie though. My carpet would have far less stains if we could actually eat in the kitchen, make use of the high chair again, etc.
I want to buy new clothes, since I only have a few that fit, but then I’m like if I’m trying to lose more weight, I’d just end up needing to buy more again. Plus, I don’t really like the fashion these days so it’s hard to shop. I think I want a new cell phone even though my Sidekick is my baby but damn these iPhone and Blackberry people, LOL. Uhhh…I want to go natural and the style I want is like $400 bucks to start it off. Couple bottles of perfume, maybe a bigger TV for the bedroom since my eye sight is getting worse. I think that’s it.
It’s not normal, but I actually WANT to pay off my credit card bill. That will help with a lot of things in the future if I get that situated finally! Ok, that’s all
@ Courtney – When you come over, you can see that the hubby completely rearranged the basement. I don’t know if it would fit but he was looking at one of the smaller models that might work down there.
Man, that list will drive you crazy, won’t it? There’s always a million and one things I would do with my money if it didn’t all go towards the “regular” stuff like keeping a roof over our heads….
Wow…my list of things would consist of: a new hairdo, a caramel frappacino, a new phone, cute boots for winter, oh and a car. That of course comes after the diapers, bills, and rent that my checks just barely cover…*sigh*…one day tho….
