I’ve been playing this song on repeat for the past three months and when I tell you it has gotten me through some rough moments, I’m not playing. There’s a lot of stress that comes along with being a modern mother and sometimes I find it hard to be my best on any given day.
Sometimes I’m just tired and could use a 4-hour nap. Other times I’m not in the mood for the attitude my 5-year-old slings my way and the fact that I spend 40% of my day breaking up fights between my kids.
But this song? It gives me a clearer head. A little bit more perspective. Of course, Israel Houghton isn’t the first person to record “Moving Forward,” but I’ve heard a lot of renditions and I love his version. I’m usually in tears by the 2:40 mark. Something about it is so cleansing to me.
It reminds me that I can do all things through Christ. All things. ALL things. Not some things. But ALL THINGS. I don’t have to be defined by my past mistakes but I can do better tomorrow. That’s a comfort.
So check out my favorite song and the lyrics below:
What a moment
You have brought me to
Such a freedom I have found in You
You’re the Healer
Who makes all things new
Yeah yeah yeah
~Bridge~
I’m not going back
I’m moving ahead
Here to declare to You
My past is over in You
All things are made new
Surrendered my life to Christ
I’m moving, moving forward
(2nd verse)
You have risen
With all power in Your hands
You have given me
A second chance
Hallelujah hallelujah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
(back to bridge)
~Chorus~
You make all things new
Yes
You make all things new
And I will follow You
Forward
Encouraging song! We sing it A LOT at church.
