My mom has a birthday today. She’s turning *mumble-mumble* years old.
I was trying to think of what I could get her for her birthday because she doesn’t really ask for much. She never has. So whenever her birthday or Christmas rolls around, my sisters and I are always stumped. My mom goes to work and takes care of us and rarely ever complains. (Although if I was in her shoes, I’d be complaining all the time!)
So for her birthday, I figured I’d write down the lessons she’s taught me:
- Being treated like a queen is to be expected.
- Never be afraid to speak your mind, as long as you’re respectful
- It takes a special woman to be a mother and as long as you are willing to provide for and protect your children with all your might, you are halfway there.
- Just because you’re tired doesn’t mean you stop.
- Tell your kids you love them every day. Don’t be afraid to tell them how much they mean to you.
I try to use my mother’s example when I deal with my own kids now and I’d say that the fact that they are so kind, so inquisitive, so smart is because I am my mother’s daughter.
Happy birthday, Mom!
How sweet, Tara! You are so lucky to have such a wonderful mother who taught you so much. You look so much like her. I hope she has a wonderful birthday and many more to come!
