The holidays are quickly approaching and I, for one, am not ready. I’m trying to figure out a way to minimize some of the craziness that comes with the most wonderful time of the year.
I’ve got two goals:
- To come up with a reasonable, affordable Christmas getaway that will allow my family to make a lot of memories
- Give back to the community and teach my children the value of helping the less fortunate
And I know for a lot of my readers, money is TIGHT. Schools are asking for dollar after dollar for fundraisers, kids are growing and eating up all your food, and now you’ve got presents to buy.

Each week, Walmart announces rollbacks on new toys on its “Toyland Tuesday” Facebook album. You’ll see which toys are on sale that week and get your budget ready. This past week, for example, the LeapFrog MyPal Scout (or MyPal Violet) was on sale for $19.97. 
If the prices are still a little steep for you, you can always use layaway to pay for your gifts a little at a time. And the best news is this: If you put a toy on layaway and Walmart rolls back the price later in the season, Walmart will honor the rolled-back price if it is in effect at the time of final payment. Walmart will also match competitor pricing during checkout for layaway products through its ad match policy. So you’re saving either way you go.
