are you ready?

I’ve been so pumped about this Princess and the Frog movie since late 2008, when it finally got a release date of December 2009.

Since it is finally coming to theatres near us TODAY, I’ve planned an entire Mommy-Daughter day in celebration. How overboard am I going with this? Let’s count the ways:

1. Every night, we are reading the Princess and the Frog read-aloud storybook that I got from Disney back in October. I’m hoping it helps her connect with Tiana more.

2. On Saturday we are going to see the movie, wearing green outfits and my daughter will have a Princess Tiana tiara on her head. (Yes, I am well aware I am shoving it down her throat.)

3. After the movie (if she lasts through it, which I doubt), we’ll go to lunch. Nothing fancy, probably just some Wendy’s.

4. THEN we’re coming home to make some recipes from the Princess Tiana cookbook. I’m leaning toward the gumbo.

5. THEN I’m going back out to see the move by myself. I’m nuts right?

P.S. – I’m downloading the soundtrack to the movie as we speak.

  1. She screams each time the commercial airs and thinks it is totally hilarious to call me Mama Odie. Oh and her favorite line is “it’s gonna be good”. It should be a lot of fun. I plan to take my 3yo this weekend. We purchased the Princess and the Frog book at B&N last week and we cannot find it anywhere in the house. I want to go out tomorrow and pick up some other items for our special day. Hopefully I can find the cookbook this weekend.

    • @Alanda – That cookbook is on POINT. They have great recipes (of course I’m biased because I love New Orleans/Creole/Cajun dishes) but really, I couldn’t be happier! :)

  2. I think it’s nice to share this moment with your little one as well as yourself. Your daughter will grow up knowing a Black Disney princess…something we didnt have. Go ahead and be proud

    • @Nikki – Girl, I’m sooo excited. I went into the store the other day and they had the FULL Princess Tiana section up (finally). There were watches and necklaces and purses and sheets and pillows, T-shirts, pants, tights, shoes, sunglasses, books, EVERYTHING. I almost went broke! LOL.

  3. You’re not going overboard at all! Sounds like a perfect mother-daughter day: and the perfect way to celebrate our beautiful Tiana! These are the moments that I wish for a daughter of my own! 😉

Have fun!!!! Can’t wait to see pics from the day.

    • @Yakini – See, I knew you’d understand! :) Did you see Denene’s photos from her daughter’s slumber party with a Princess Tiana theme? They laid it OUT. I want to be friends with her (in ATL not just online) so I can come by her house for the next one! LOL.

  4. OH MY! the movie was the BEST!! my local MM chapter sponsored a pink carpet event for opening day and my little one wore princess tiana’s wedding dress. it was fab!!! we had prizes, raffles, paparazzi pics and everything. i too, want to go see it again!

    • @Mrs. W – I saw it twice yesterday and I loved it. It was funny, engaging, refreshing, just everything I thought it would be. Certain parts were a little dark but I can live with that. :)

  5. Your Princess outing sounds fabulous. I was hoping to “borrow” my friend’s 6 yo daughter so that I can enjoy the movie through her eyes, but wasn’t able to. Will still shower my baby girl in Princess Tiana goodness. So excited.
